Just a few days ago, Collider reported that Christian Bale was in talks with Marvel to join the cast of Thor: Love and Thunder. Thanks to Tessa Thompson, the actress who will reprise her role as Valkyrie in the upcoming Thor film, we now know Christian Bale will be the antagonist in the film.

“I’ve read the script. I can’t tell you much. Lots of exciting text messages exchanged between Natalie and I. We’re going to have fun. Taika is writing (and) directing. Some familiar faces. Some new people coming into the mix. Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic,” Thompson said in the interview with Entertainment Tonight.

Thor: Love and Thunder would be the fourth Thor film in the franchise. Taika Waititi who won acclaim for his direction in Thor: Ragnarok will be returning for Love and Thunder, so will Natalie Portman, who will reprise her role as Jane Foster. Chris Hemsworth is obviously back as everyone’s favourite Norse god.

Waititi will also provide the voice of fan favourite Korg. Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios will produce the film.

Christian Bale’s last comic book film franchise was for The Dark Knight Trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan. The three films won a lot of acclaim and raked in big dollars at the box office.

Thor: Love and Thunder is all set to release on November 5, 2021.
